Meet Our Teachers!

 A native Southern California kid who has always loved nature, working with her hands, and solving problems. She studied Fine Arts, Ceramics, Interior Design, and Early Childcare, and has always been drawn to creating things and working with kids.

Creating Eureka Valley Arts has brought all of those interests together. Giving children a place to make art, explore, have fun, feel safe, and be part of a community has made this the best job she’s ever had.

 Cedric is from Ashland Oregon and has been working with kids since he started doing childcare as a teenager. Being raised in a co-housing community with other kids, he has learned the importance of community and how a trusting and supportive environment allows kids to thrive. Cedric is happy to work for a program like EVA that aligns with his own values and allows him to teach, connect, and collaborate with kids through art and creativity. Outside of EVA, he enjoys being in nature and doing something active whether it be playing soccer, hiking, or biking around the city. Cedric loves working with kids because of their ability to teach him new things in unexpected and silly ways every day. 

 Hi! I’m Amanda Eckert, though most people know me as Soup. I’m a San Francisco-based artist and educator who believes art should be a space for curiosity, play, and discovery. My work explores humor, wonder, and the space between silly and sincere. Growing up surrounded by nature and becoming a scuba diver at a young age sparked my lasting fascination with the ocean and the natural world. I studied at San Francisco State University, where I explored how play and curiosity can shape the way we see the world. As a teacher, I hope to create a welcoming space where students feel encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, and develop their own creative voice.

Rose is a musician, artist and a self-proclaimed “connector” with over five years of experience working with kids and teaching art. She’s a Northern California native who migrated to the Bay Area to attend San Francisco State University, where she studied Psychology, Race and Resistance, and Studio Art. Her favorite parts of working at EVA are being a part of creative community, helping kids execute their awesome artistic visions, and working with them in the wood shop. 

 Hello! My name is Emma P. and I have had the pleasure of instructing at EVA since  January 2026. I am an artist and recent Fine Arts graduate from San Francisco State University. I previously instructed and facilitated art with elementary children in transitional housing from 2024-2025 through DrawBridge: An Expressive Arts Program for Children and Youth. My main artistic background is in drawing, painting, and textiles. My grandma was an elementary teacher for 35 years and I owe my teacher charm and craftiness to her. I proudly embrace the creative direction of children and I love collaborating with the EVA teachers to turn a child’s ideas into reality, build their self confidence, and mold their minds to become truly thoughtful and masterful artists. 

Emma has worked at EVA for the past year. As a current high school senior at Urban, she enjoys coming to EVA after school to assist the teachers and connect with kids through art. At EVA, she loves making sure each kid puts time and effort into their projects so they can feel proud of the outcome.
