" We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents" Bob Ross
A native Southern California kid who has always loved nature, working with her hands and problem solving. She studied Fine Arts, Ceramics, Interior Design and Early Childcare. Creating E.V.A. for children to come make art, explore, have fun, feel safe and be apart of our community has made this the best job ever!
Maddie moved to the Bay Area in 2021 and grew up in Rockford, Illinois with an instilled love for nature, expression, and exploration. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, previously worked as a Collaborator at the design camp Project Ember, worked as an Associate Teacher at Berkwood Hedge School, and is now the Assistant Director of EVA.
"Working with EVA for over 3 years has been an absolute blast. I've loved guiding our kids in their creative journey and watching them grow."
I am a dedicated educator with extensive experience working with children in diverse learning environments. I have worn many hats, as a long term sub in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th-6th grades, and I have taught bilingual kindergarten and first grade. As a Teaching Aide and Extended School Year Services Provider at New School SF, I supported multilingual classrooms, provided differentiated instruction, and helped students with IEPs reach their learning goals. I’ve also worked as an after-school instructor, program coordinator, and recreation leader, creating engaging educational programs and fostering inclusive learning spaces.
At EVA I have been embracing the chance to work creatively with the kids on 3d printing projects, crochet, macrame, and assist with many other seasonal projects. Most recently, I’ve started introducing the kids to dungeons and dragons- and all the creative writing that comes with it!
I have a degree in childhood education- with every possible elective in the arts. I’ve been a professional nanny for nearly 15 years, but can not think of a better combination than kids plus arts and crafts! This is a great, nurturing, and artistically educational place for kids, and we need more places like this. Oh-and did I mention fun?
I am an experienced educator with a background in Archaeology, Anthropology, and Art History, holding an undergraduate degree from the University of East Anglia, as well as a master’s degree in Museum Management and Curatorial Studies from Norwich University of the Arts. I’ve worked with students across various age groups, drawing on my academic knowledge and teaching experience to inspire their creativity and critical thinking. My passion for art education drives me to create an inclusive and engaging environment where students can explore and develop their artistic skills.
